The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with approximately 500 staff across NSW to care for animals.

Join RSPCA NSW as a Shelter Manager!

 

Are you passionate about animal welfare and experienced in people management? We are seeking a dynamic Shelter Manager to lead operations at our Sydney Adoption Centre.

Reporting to a Head of Animal Care, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare while leading and supporting a dedicated team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Training and supporting staff to maintain high standards aligning with organisational policies and procedure.
  • Making thorough and decisive decisions about animal care.
  • Leading a supportive work environment
  • Collaborating with industry experts and professionals
  • Resolving escalations with expertise.
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives that align with strategic frameworks
  • Advising the public on animal welfare matters.


About You:

  • Proven experience in people management and leadership, including developing and coaching others, performance management and recruitment
  • A background in animal handling and welfare
  • Ability to problem solve and use initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, time management and organisational skills.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic, embrace a growth mindset, and ability to empower others
  • Full Class C Driver's license required.
