About RSPCA NSW The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, delivering extensive professional services through our fully equipped veterinary hospitals and state-wide shelter network, supported by approximately 500 staff across NSW. About the Role We are seeking a full-time Veterinary Nurse to join our reception team, playing a key role as the first point of contact for clients and their animals. This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys client interaction, thrives in a fast-paced front-of-house environment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service alongside high standards of animal care. This role blends veterinary knowledge with reception responsibilities, ensuring a smooth client journey from arrival through to discharge, while supporting the clinical team behind the scenes. This position works on a seven-day rotating roster between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, including occasional weekends and public holidays. What You'll Be Doing Client Care & Reception Duties - Provide a warm, professional first point of contact for all clients and visitors
- Manage appointment bookings, triage enquiries, and coordinate patient flow
- Handle client communications including phone calls, emails, and follow-ups
- Support clients through admissions, discharges, and treatment plans with empathy and clarity
- Assist in resolving client concerns and escalate where appropriate
Clinical Support (as required) - Assist veterinarians and nursing staff with patient care when needed
- Prepare patients for procedures and support basic nursing tasks
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure clear communication between teams
Administrative & Operational Support - Process payments, invoicing, and financial transactions accurately
- Maintain reception area presentation and workflow efficiency

About You You are a people-focused Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working at the front desk and creating positive client experiences. You bring: - Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic (reception experience highly regarded)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
- Confidence handling a wide range of client interactions with empathy and professionalism
- Solid understanding of veterinary terminology and procedures
